The year 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese approved by Ministry of Education and Ministry of Civil Affairs of China. The Association will hold its 11th National Congress and the International Symposium on Comparative Studies of English and Chinese and Translation Studies on August 25th-28th, 2014 at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. The Symposium will be themed on “Opportunity · Innovation · Harmony”. Within the framework of the three sections, namely, English and Chinese languages, comparative studies of English and Chinese cultures, and translation studies, the following topics of interest, including but not necessarily limited to, are profiled by the Symposium:
1. Contemporary Linguistic Theories and Comparative Studies of English and Chinese
2. The Application of Bilingual Comparison Analysis in English Teaching
3. The Comparison of Language Teaching Traditions in China and Abroad
4. Bilingual Acquisition and Processing
5. Translation History and the Case Studies
6. The Approach to Translation Sociology
7. The Contributions of Linguistic Philosophy to Linguistic Theories
8. Studies on the Present Situation of English Translation of Chinese Classics
9. Computational Linguistics and Corpus Research
10. On Reception of the Translation of Chinese Culture
11. Differences Between English and Chinese Cultures and Misreading in Text Analysis
12. Interface Studies on English-Chinese Languages and Cultures
